Little Red Riding Hood Innocent? NOT!!!
Little Red Riding Hood is seen as an innocent child. But as I read the other versions she is not as innocent as I'm used to. In the 1885 version "The Story of Grandmother" Little Red Riding Hood (LRRH) is treated as a sexual object and i feel that she took advantage of it by doing what the wolf said getting him to trust her so that she can get away. In this version I feel that it represents the image of womanhood today because in modern day woman are seen mostly as a sexual object to men. The wolf would be what the modern day man is and LRRH is treated as a sexual object by telling her to undress herself. Now woman also use that to their advantage to get what they want. in this version of LRRH she does just that, she does what she is told and then she jumps out of the window and escapes.
The LRRH version of Roald Dahl is the best version in my opinion he makes woman look powerful and definitely subvert the expectations of the female gender. She has a gun and she's not afraid to use it. Who would think of LRRH with a gun? That was a brilliant spin to this story. As you have seen in my previous posts you can tell that I believe that woman should be perceived as strong people and not weak and helpless as many fairy tales put us out to be. So this version is definitely what I mean about woman being able to defend themselves! GO DAHL!!!!
